Why Shoot Portrait Photography in Fullerton, California?
A lot of Californians might think of citrus when they think of Fullerton, California. The area has long been known for its seemingly endless groves of Valencia oranges. Some even say the whole town smells of it—which I wouldn’t mind at all!
Fullerton is another one of those California cities within Orange County that’s considered fairly suburban. It has its unique charm but, on the surface, can seem a bit sparse when it comes to shooting locations for portrait photography. Fortunately, I’ve had plenty of shoots in and around the area and can say that looks can be deceiving!
What You Can Wear for Portraits in Fullerton, California?
Wear whatever you want—I’m not one to judge your wardrobe and clothing is very much contingent on your look and what you are trying to achieve. Best Spots Near Fullerton, California for Portrait Photography
Fullerton, California is a suburban area that takes some time to fully understand and break into when you’re trying to find great places to shoot photography, be it landscape or portrait. However, I’ve found a few great places that I can share with clients!
Mihaylo’s Orange Groves
While much of the orange industry has moved out of the city, you can find a beautiful orange grove to serve as a backdrop inside of the California State campus. Orange groves can be a fun location to shoot in and there are plenty of private groves still around—try asking the property owner for permission. You may be surprised to hear their approval!
Laguna Lake Park
Sandy shorelines rim Laguna Lake alongside scrubby trees. Laguna Lake Park is full of natural beauty and can be pretty secluded at times. I’ve found it to be a great place to shoot portraits. It’s quiet, peaceful, and beautiful, which are all things that complement a portrait!
Anaheim Coves
The Anaheim Coves are an expanse of wetlands that abut the Santa Ana River. All in all, the coves encompass 14 acres of pure serenity. The long views, the unbridled sunsets, and the rugged wilderness all come together to provide plenty of interesting opportunities during our portrait session.
Cerritos Sculpture Garden
The Cerritos Sculpture Garden is a park full of abstract expressionist sculptures that rise from the ground like obelisks. Surrounding the sculptures is a beautiful English-styled garden that loops and winds around itself. It’s a perfect place to find both an artistic and verdant backdrop or a mixture of both.
Why Choose Me as Your Fullerton Photographer
Suburbia often gets panned in the photography world. It can be seen as bland and sterile. After all, who wants to get their portrait taken in front of a Starbucks? However, I feel that good photographers will find the beauty and the motion in everything, no matter where you are. I’m always on the lookout for it.
In a session, my priority is you but I am also intently aware of how things move around you and where those hidden corners of splendor are.
Not to mention, I have the camera equipment to preserve the moments we make happen. I’ve been in this business a while—I’ve made the investment. You can rest easy knowing that if we catch lightning in a bottle, it’ll stay in that bottle for everyone to see and admire!
