The Panasonic Lumix GH6 is one of the best micro four-thirds system cameras and one in a long line of camera systems that are tailor-made for video. We still use the Panasonic GH4, and it’s an excellent camera. 

The GH6 is powered by a 25.2-MP Live MOS micro four-thirds sensor. It supports internal ProRes 422 HQ support and records 5.7K (60p) and 4K (120p). It’s possible to shoot extreme slow-motion in-camera in very high resolution. 

You also get 4:2:2 10-Bit unlimited recording (practically limited by the capacity of the card you have in the slot). 4:2:2 10-Bit recording opens up the opportunity for greater flexibility when editing and color grading your footage.

This is definitely for videographers who want to take advantage of the pro video features of the camera. However, this feature isn’t for you if you plan on just shooting, editing and publishing.

The GH6 has something else that will make videographers interested. There is no optical low-pass filter. That means you will get a lot more sharpness out of it. To avoid moiré, the Venus image processing engine has an intelligent detail processing feature that ensures that the effects are limited. 

Overall this is an exceptional camera if you’re interested in shooting cinematic footage you wish to edit. Even vloggers and YouTubers can use the camera well if they’re looking to incorporate cinematic footage, color grades their videos, and do advanced stuff with their B-rolls.

The a6000 shoots full HD videos and has a decent low-light performance thanks to its high ISO range of 25600. The sensor utilizes a gapless chip design that eliminates the space between individual pixels and fills it using optimized lenses, enabling the sensor to gather additional light and with it improved low-light performance.

If you’re interested in creating some creative B-roll with this camera and then color grade them according to your preferences, then the option to shoot 8-bit 4:2:2 uncompressed videos and record externally will come in handy.

Slow-motion full HD is supported as the maximum frame rate of the a6000 when shooting full HD in the XAVC S codec is 60 fps. Simultaneously, an MP4 version of the same video is recorded, allowing you to get a web-ready format if you share your footage online without editing.

Vloggers prefer a fast autofocusing mechanism that works during video shooting. In that sense, the fast autofocusing feature of the a6000 is more than helpful, especially with its eye-AF function.

Built around a 45-MP full-frame dual-pixel CMOS sensor, the Canon EOS R5 is a mirrorless camera designed for both the discerning still shooter and the videographer. The EOS R5 can internally capture 8K RAW at 30p and 4K 120p 10-Bit footage. 

A DIGIC X image processing engine is paired with the dual-pix CMOS sensor. This new generation DIGIC X image processor improves the camera’s overall performance along with the Dual Pixel II CMOS autofocusing mechanism.

Speaking of autofocus, the camera can detect human and animal subjects much better than previous-generation cameras.

The large 3.2-inch vari-angle rear LCD screen offers a magnificent view of what’s being recorded on the camera.

The EOS R5 has been known to get overheated when shooting 8K footage. While 8K shooting isn’t a standard, if you’re paying for the feature, you might not be happy with the heat issues. 4K  24p and 30p, however, induce no such problems.

19. Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro

The new swivel screen is one of the most significant updates on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 6K Pro. Both the 4K and the 6K had fixed LCD screens for some reason, which was a bit of a problem for videographers. Will this benefit YouTubers? Not unless they’re interested in shooting cinematic sequences to add to their vlogs. Because the whole purpose of the swivel screen is so that it becomes a better camera when you’re not using the viewfinder.

The Blackmagic 6K Pro is a slightly bigger camera compared to the 4K and even the older 6K. Again, this shouldn’t bother a YouTuber because they’re going to mount this on a tripod, but it will undoubtedly be an issue for those who are shooting hand-held.

Built-in ND filters which you can use with a press of your thumb, are a great addition to the camera. Now you can use ND filters to get that shallow field depth without fiddling with filters. Just push a + or – button to get the desired filter you need.

There is a bunch of other features, including the built-in Canon EF mount, an optional viewfinder, a ton of shooting options under Blackmagic RAW and ProRes, and an optional battery grip that you can use as a backup for the battery that’s inside the built-in battery compartment and then hot-swap them as they run out of juice. This is a camera that any video enthusiast and even video professional would love to use. For YouTubers, unless you’re shooting B-rolls or don’t need it. But for someone shooting great quality B-rolls to accentuate their videos, this is a great camera to have.

An affordable mid-range APS-C camera combines many of the better features of top-end models. It comes in a package that any entry-level videographer or beginner YouTuber will be happy to use.

This 32.5-MP APS-C CMOS sensor-powered camera is paired with the DIGIC 8 image processor. The camera can shoot 4K 30p and full HD videos at 120p. However, for some reason, Canon hasn’t offered the option to shoot in cinematic 24p. That option isn’t available in full HD or 4K.

At the back of the camera is a 3-inch 1.04M-dot vari-angle LCD screen. Vari-angle screens are a much better option than tilting or other LCD screens because you can see what the camera is looking at while you’re recording the video. It gives the vlogger reference on what’s in the frame and if it’s in focus.

The hybrid autofocusing system uses a 45-point phase-detection system plus a 5481-point dual-pixel CMOS system that covers almost all of the frame and offers smooth autofocusing performance.

21. DJI Action 2

The DJI Action 2 is a miniature action camera from the house of DJI. The compact miniature design belies the fact that it’s a powerful 4K camera under the hood. The main attraction of the camera is, no doubt, for action-adventure enthusiasts. And to cater to them, DJI has developed a series of magnetic modules extending the camera’s functionality and suitability for different kinds of action sports and adventure usage.

The DJI Action 2 is an upgrade of the DJI Osmo Action. But unlike the 1/2.3-inch sensor that powered the DJI Osmo Action, the DJI Action 2 is powered by a 1/1.7-inch sensor. The slight increase in real estate can only mean good though it’s not a noticeable difference.

The built-in lens on the DJI Action 2 has a 155-degree field of view. The camera can capture DCI 4K footages at 60p and 4K at 120p. It can also shoot full HD footage at 240p for stunning super slow-motion footage in-camera.

The DJI Action 2 is a robust construction that’s waterproof up to a depth of 33 feet. You can use it underwater, in a torrential downpour, and it will perform without any issues.

The Nikon Zfc is a mirrorless movie from the house of Nikon. The camera combines a classic metal look with a 20.9MP APS-C CMOS sensor and is paired with the DIGIC 6 image processor. The camera shoots UHD 4K 30p and full HD videos at 120p. You get the cinematic 24p as well when shooting both 4K and full-HD videos.

The Zfc is a rather good camera for shooting videos if you don’t want log or 10-bit uncompressed footage to an external recorder. 

A 209-point hybrid AF system powers Autofocusing. The autofocusing performance of the camera is rather good, even in dim light conditions. For someone on a one-person recording team who is habituated to moving a little while speaking at a camera, the fast AF acquired that the Zfc shows in tests is a rather good feature.

The camera also has a reliable Eye-detection feature that comes in handy in many situations.
